It's been exactly one year since the first time one of the big-five phone manufacturers announced a fully touch-operated slider. The Samsung S8300 takes over from where the LG KF700 left off and attempts a huge leap forward.

While the LG KF700 wasn't that popular, the Samsung S8300 seems ready to go that extra length. It is the key product for Samsung for the first half of this year and we are almost as curious as you are to see if it appeals to the phone-buying public

The Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH looks quite nice in the flesh and we have to admit that we are rather fond of the metallic frame around the display.in dark it looks beautiful with flash.

The Samsung S8300 touchscreen phone comes with TouchWIZ technology which has a Widgets feature that enables users to have a selection of widget style mini applications open on its home screen. It comes with 18 Widgets built-in.

Samsung S8300 touchscreen mobile phone offers a full touch navigation experience allowing widgets with ‘drag and drop’ technology which makes the experience of using the phone highly interactive and easy.

A whole variety of widgets are available, which users can activate by swiping of a finger, which displays information from the phone, accessing images, music and other content and provide a quick way to access various functions in the handset.

8.0 MP Camera: Weighting just about 121 gms, the Samsung S8300 UltaTouch Touchscreen mobile phone features integrated 8.0 Megapixels CMOS based 5.70 mm focal length digital camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels image resolution and it offers Autofocus, 16X digital zoom and built-in LED flash light along with Image Stabilizer for blur-free camera experience. The Samsung Pixon M8800 Touchscreen mobile phone allows picture storage in standard JPEG format in handset memory or in extended memory. In addition, the digital camera also offers Photo effects and option for Photo quality settings while shooting still pictures. The camera is also equipped with dual LED flash Geotagging, face detection function, autodetect smile and blick detection, and panaroma shot. Additionally the camera is equipped with some more advanced features like image stabilizer (still and video capture) and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR).

The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch Touchscreen mobile handset is armed with mobile tracker feature that helps users track their phone in case they happen to lose it. In an event of being lost, stolen or misplaced, the Mobile Tracker feature sends an SMS prompt to a pre-determined number whenever the SIM card is changed thus improving chances of recovering the handset.

In addition, the Samsung S8300 Touchscreen mobilephone has a powerful internal speakerphone is included to give users a hands-free comfort. The handset also sports SRS Surround Sound System with virtual 5.1 channel support.

Sliding the phone open reveals the keypad. It is quite spacious with large enough keys for comfortable typing. Some additional bordering wouldn't have hurt the typing capabilities of the device but it is good enough as it stands now

The back of the S8300 UltraTOUCH hosts the 8 megapixel camera and its loyal companions - the LED flash and the self-portrait mirror. Those are of course only visible when the slider is open, which gives them some serious protection from scratches.

The general build quality of the S8300 UltraTOUCH is commendable. No creaks or other disturbing noises of any kind were heard throughout the time of our preview. The slider is also nicely done - as is usual for Samsung, it's smooth and stable.

Music playerThe music player of the Samsung S8300 hasn't been greatly altered from the M8800 Pixon. Some additional visual effects have been added but that's as far as the changes go.

The music player widget is cool, allowing quick access to the full version of the application by only a single tap. You can also start, stop and alternate tracks straight from the home screen if you prefer. A well deserved pat on the back also goes to the FM radio widget as well.

Last, but certainly not least, the player is nicely touch-optimized including fast forward and rewind, just like the Pixon. This adds up to an excellent music application that can fully replace your portable MP3 player

If you're looking for a multimedia mobile phone, the Samsung S8300 Tocco UltraTouch has all the makings of a great multimedia phone. The AMOLED screen makes watching vidoes enjoyable, sound quality is GREAT, picture quality is also great. What more do you need? WiFi? Well, yeah but what would you need WiFi for if you can't really use it for desktop browsing? The Samsung S8300 Tocco Ultra Touch is a multimedia phone and a good one at that.
